Assistance with health insurance enrollment in Dallas

In keeping with our mission to improve and save lives through compassionate, quality healthcare, Methodist Dallas Medical Center offers free assistance to anyone wanting to enroll for coverage through the national health insurance exchange program.

What to Know About the Health Insurance Exchange

  1. Open enrollment is only open during certain periods of the year.
  2. Not only can you view and compare health insurance options online, but with one application, you can have those options tailored to your personal situation and find out if you might be eligible, based on your income, for financial assistance to lower your costs.
  3. The same application will let you find out if you and your family members might qualify for free or low-cost coverage available through Medicaid or the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP).
  4. The information is all available online, but you can apply four ways:
    1. Online
    2. Phone
    3. Mail
    4. In-person with the help of a trained Certified Application Counselor (CAC) or navigator.
  5. Each health plan will generally offer comprehensive coverage, including a core set of essential health benefits, like doctor visits, preventive care, maternity care, hospitalization, prescription drugs, and more.
  6. In keeping with this mission to improve and save lives though compassionate, quality healthcare, Methodist Health System offers free assistance to anyone wanting to enroll for coverage through the national health insurance exchange program.
  7. Health insurance companies selling plans through the marketplace can’t deny you coverage or charge you more due to pre-existing health conditions, and they can’t charge women and men different premiums based on their gender.
  8. The Texas marketplace is operated by the federal government.
  9. Methodist does not offer its own plan, but is in-network in the Blue Cross Blue Shield and Molina Healthcare plans on the exchange.
