Amon G. Carter Foundation Heart & Vascular Center

Advanced Heart Care in Mansfield

The Amon G. Carter Foundation Heart and Vascular Center brings advanced heart care to Mansfield and the surrounding communities. Designed with you in mind, the Heart and Vascular Center provides a wide range of cardiac procedures, from open heart surgery to diagnostic and interventional cardiology.

Heart & Vascular Services Include:

  • 24-hour emergency catheterization and angioplasty in the accredited Cycle IV Chest Pain Center from the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care.
  • Electrophysiology lab designed to treat patients diagnosed with various heart arrhythmias including atrial fibrillation (AFib). Electrophysiology studies and treatment include cardiac ablations, loop recorders, implantable cardiac defibrillators, and single- or dual-chamber pacemakers. Atrial fibrillation affects approximately 5 percent of the population, and these procedures have the potential to eliminate dependence on blood thinners. Those most at risk have a history of heart valve disorders, cardiovascular disease, congestive heart failure, and hypothyroidism. Other conditions that can result in an arrhythmia include electrolyte imbalance, smoking, excessive exercise, alcoholism and drinking too much caffeine. Arrhythmias can also be a side effect of stimulant drugs, such as certain diet drugs.
  • Abiomed Impella® 2.5 ventricular assist device, the world’s smallest emergency heart pump. This new catheter-based heart pump helps a patient’s weakened heart gain strength by providing temporary circulatory support, easing the workload of the heart muscle. The procedure can be performed in the cardiac catheterization lab without the need for surgical intervention. The Impella® can also allow patients previously deemed “too risky” to undergo angioplasty procedures.
  • Biotronik Entovis ProMRI® pacing system, the first pacemaker in the U.S. with FDA approval to use with MRI scans. An independently practicing cardiologist at Methodist Mansfield was the first in North Texas to implant the device.
  • Peripheral vascular disease and pulmonary embolism treatment. The Heart and Vascular Center offers the latest EKOS® System emergency treatment for peripheral and pulmonary embolism treatment.
