For nearly 50 years, Methodist Charlton has been the trusted mainstay of care for our community—serving as the only full-service medical center in the Dallas' Southern Sector. But just as you’ve grown and changed, so have we. That’s why we opened a brand new, 40,000-square-foot Emergency Department in February 2023, marking a new era for one of the busiest trauma centers in Dallas-Fort Worth.
The state-of-the-art facility, built from the ground up, adds 25 more patient
beds than the previous Emergency Department, bringing the total to 70.
With space and comfort in mind, it also has larger waiting rooms and triage
areas and expanded ambulance bays, as well as all the advanced equipment
needed to meet a wide range of critical needs.
“More space makes the emergency room more welcoming and accessible,”
Methodist Charlton President Fran Laukaitis said. “This will help
provide shorter wait times and a better patient experience overall.”
Today, we offer thousands of care providers and dozens of specialty areas
to care for you—from advanced cardiac care and robotic surgery to
a Level II NICU to a dedicated oncology unit. With our expanded services,

We offer certified oncology nurses, board-certified cancer specialists on the medical staff, and a brand-new Dr. Stephen and Marilyn Mansfield Oncology Unit. That means you can get advanced cancer care at a location near your family and support system.
Trauma and emergency care
Methodist Charlton is home to a Level III Trauma Center, and has a newly expanded 40,000-square-foot Emergency Department. The new $71 million facility features 70 patient beds and state-of-the-art equipment. Providing lifesaving services for conditions like stroke, heart attack, or serious injuries. No person in need of emergency care is ever turned away.

Caring for our neighbors through a pandemic, and every day
Methodist Charlton was the first in the Southern Sector to offer drive-through COVID-19 testing at the onset of the pandemic, and we continued our commitment to fighting the pandemic by offering COVID-19 vaccination at multiple area school districts. Methodist continues to offer COVID-19 education to community groups upon request.
With a decades-long commitment to serving this area, we understand the unique makeup and health needs of this community. From developing new services to screenings and events, we’re focused on connecting all of our neighbors to the quality care they need and deserve.
