Stipends and Benefits

Hepatopancreaticobiliary Surgery Fellowship in Richardson

Stipend – 2019-2020

  • PGY 6 $68,111.54
  • PGY 7 $69,759.97

*The stipends are subject to change on an annual basis.

Leave

  • 10 days sick leave
  • Family and Medical leave – fellow may be eligible for up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave for birth, adoption, or seriously ill family members. Fellows should be aware that all combined leave exceeding 30 days will lengthen the fellowship beyond the usual expected date of completion in accordance with the ACGME Program guidelines.

Vacation

  • 3 weeks of vacation per year (15 weekdays plus 5 weekend days for a total of 20 days)

Book Allowance/CME

  • Fellows may spend up to $300 a year for medical books. This amount does not include the cost of books supplied by the program or textbooks required for program-related examinations.

Insurance

  • Professional liability coverage, group life insurance, and disability insurance will be provided by Methodist Health System.
  • Hospitalization insurance for physician and immediate family (spouse and children) will be provided by Methodist Health System under the Enhanced/Tax Saver Plan. Under the Medical Reimbursement Plan, Methodist Health System will contribute $2,000 to your account that can be used to pay for health care related expenses that are not reimbursed or covered by the Enhanced Plan. This is an annual contribution but does not carry over from year to year.
  • Dental insurance is an optional benefit for fellows and eligible family members at Methodist Health System group rates and, if chosen, is the responsibility of the fellow.

Retirement

  • Upon completion of one year of employment with Methodist Health System, fellows are eligible to participate in the hospital retirement plan. The hospital will match contributions to this plan up to 2.5 percent of base pay.
